Khaled Hosseini's book, Sea Prayer, is a powerful, illustrated story about a father and son's journey to a refugee crisis. The story is inspired by the tragic death of Syrian boy Alan Kurdi in Turkey. Hosseini aims to pay tribute to millions of families affected by war and persecution. Proceeds will be donated to the UNHCR and The Khaled Hosseini Foundation, which provides humanitarian assistance to Afghans.

About the Author

Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Hosseini moved to Iran, Paris, and San Jose, California, seeking political asylum after the Soviet invasion. He graduated from Santa Clara University and later earned an M.D. and practiced medicine in Los Angeles. Hosseini is a Goodwill Envoy for UNHCR and works with the Khaled Hosseini Foundation for humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan.
